Can vinyl wall decals be easily removed?
Most wall decals that are removable can be peeled SLOWLY without damage, however...The sun can fade the surrounding wall making a discolored area after being removed. Also, a lot of the vynal decals can stick so well that over the course of years, they won't come off in tact and the wall will need repair. There is also to be considered, the quality of the paint and how well the wall was preped and it's condition. Many rental units have had repairs over the years and the conditions (unseen) can not always be anticipated. Putting it on over wall paper should not be done. Wall paper has a fine overlap that is almost un noticable, but if you look, you can see the overlap and it could be very noticable later, also, wallpaper (especially "unpasted") is put on with a paste that does not always stick well. Here again, you can't tell what someone else has done. I sugest making arrangements with the landlord to cover the future condition of the wall (if you rent short or long term). Maybe, if you are a renter for a long enough time, he will re-paint it at no cost, (considered "normal wear") after you move. best thing is to keep them informed, and get their "OK" in wrighting (amendments to a written lease or contract, must also be in wrighting).
